Sticky: A Work in Progress

Treasure Central: A star rating of stores and sites:

Ebay    The worldwide interwebs                                                 *****
I can't tell you anything you don't know; but watch shipping charges and check feedback. Favorite find: my Krups coffee/espresso/foam maker I got over ten years ago and still use daily.

Everything Goes    11649 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix                  *****
Antique store with merchant booths. Just grew into the adjoining space. GREAT prices! Friendly staff, merchandise turns over quickly, although my favorite booths keep coming up with new goodies! Favorite find: Antique (looking, at least) ornate frame painted black and made into a corkboard for less than twenty bucks. Can't remember exactly but I use it daily in my kitchen. Several other stores attached including the man cave!

Goodwill  8515 Northwest Grand Avenue, Peoria                               ****
One of my faves. HUGE! I have never found anything amazing but if you are looking for craft items, or furniture to use or refinish you've found the place. I always find kitsch-en things or knickety knacks. Found out it's the overflow center for all the local Goodwills.

Goodwill 3341 West Greenway, Phoenix

Goodwill 3901 East Thunderbird

Halo Thrift

Hopscotch 69 Greenway

Kid to Kid Peoria Childrens Clothing, Toys and supplies thru age 14, maternity.

Kid to Kid Scottsdale

Marshall's 101 and Shea                                                         ****
Ok, I know this isn't a thrift store but their shoe selection is amazing! Easily twice the size of other discount stores including other Marshalls. Also good for purses and kids clothing.

Savers 7759 West Bell Road, Peoria, AZ                                    *****
Clean, A little too well-lit, frequent stock rotation, sales (colored tags        every day 50% off), 25% off every Monday, Senior Discounts (no, I don't get those), and you can sign up for a card for Thursday discounts too.  Employees are nice. I rarely find antiques, but other cool goodies abound. Favorite find: computer armoire for $63 bucks.

Savers 3517 West Bell, Phoenix, AZ
Smells funny. I can only take it for so long. Same discounts as above. Has a good side room where the furniture and electronics are kept. Occasional vintage furniture. Decent music section. Very good household/kitchen section. Worth going.  Worth mentioning...Savers helps Big Brothers/Big Sisters and recycles literally tons of clothing that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Twice as Nice  4322 West Cactus
This place used to be pretty sucky but they moved and revamped it into a cool store. Well organized. The only thing I don't like is that the better brands are by brand and not by size, so it takes FOREVER to find anything; you have to basically look at every single item. Everything else is organized normally. They carry scrubs, mens, maternity, and larger sizes which is nice. Kids clothing selection (for my little girls' size at least) is crappy. Favorite find: cheap designer jeans (Antiq Denim) and White House Black Market tops.

Thrifting in Phoenix, An Urban Adventure

Dearest Reader,

Of whom your number is one (moi!) I have decided to log my thrifting adventures. Back when I was a wee one, the thought of being seen at a thrift store, garage sale, or the use of anything (gasp!) second-hand would be abhorrent.  Now I can't stand the thought of paying full price for anything.

It all started with ebay...I read an article about this new site where you could actually purchase items from the internet. Weird, huh? I had my first account when most people had never heard of the site and the TOTAL listings were in the thousands.

Since then, I changed my email and lost my original account and the second one was screwed up by an evil boyfriend. My current one was started 1-24-1999 with 1313 positive feedback. I would sooner shoot myself in the foot than get a negative!

I now traverse Goodwill, Savers, thrift and antique stores with a passion. My fave finds are vintage whatevers and boutique clothing for the princess. I also have a favorite internet site or two and garage sales are the motherload of inexpensivity. I made up that word, cool; no?

I decided to start uploading some of my finds for posterity. Someday, maybe someone else will read this and give me some cool spots to check out!
